My Third Entry


Well, Where are the best places to get the best cuisine in Terengganu
In order to taste the best Terengganu delicacy in town, knowing the best places is a must. In this entry, it will state where the best places to eat in Terengganu. So, visiting Terengganu is not complete without trying Nasi Dagang. Nasi dagang is, perhaps the most representing food for Terengganu. The dish is mixes of rice and glutinous rich with coconut milk added once it is cooked. The rice is eaten with tuna curry and light vegetable pickles. Where to get it? The famous restaurant served Nasi Dagang is Mak Ngah Nasi Dagang restaurant at Chendering, Kuala Terengganu. Mak Ngah Nasi Dagang restaurant opens from 07:00 - 11:00 am. It is a little stall about 2km from Kuala Ibai bridge, by the road of Chendering. Remember, early bird always catches its meal. Nasi dagang in Mak Ngah’s stall always sold out before 11:00am. Other alternative will be at any stalls in Kuala Terengganu which offer quite similar taste.

 Next, try to have a little visit at Nasi Minyak John restaurant at Jalan Petani, beside AEON building. Its opens from 09:00-10:30am.

Then, if you are looking for some differences from the others, try pay a visits at restaurant Meka at Jalan Sultan Omar, Mat Binjai restaurant at Jalan Sultan Sulaiman and Misya restaurant at Batu Buruk Hawker Centre. They opens their businesses from 11:00a.m till 2:30pm. They offers large selection of Terengganu traditional kampung dishes such as fried ayam kampung (free range chicken), bovine lungs, grilled fish, grilled squid etc. Then, kampung dishes will not be complete if without Ulam. Ulam or the Malay salad is a combination of raw vegetables such as ulam raja, cucumber, petai(stink beans), pegaga and more. Some are more unfamiliar, like daun kudu, cekur, daun larak and kucing seduduk etc. It is eaten with rice or just dip into sambal belacan, budu (fish sauce) or tempoyak (fermented durian paste). Then, have the hot white rice to go with the dishes.

 After that, visits Central Market and Foods warong along Jalan Sultan Sulaiman which opens from 4:00pm-12:00a.m. They serves numerous good local Malay food. Try Laksam which is quite similar to the western pasta except the wheat and rice flour mixing dough is steamed but not boiled. It is eat with boiled and pureed fish gravy which is mixed with coconut milk. After all, some stalls or restaurants serves good food services as well.
